Travis J. Larson – President
Travis has worked with RJ for over 26 years. He entered the electrical industry as a Material Handler in 1992. He worked his way into a position as a purchasing coordinator then later into project and business management; learning every aspect of the industry from the ground level up. The most enjoyable part of his day is spent meeting with clients and designing creative solutions to their lighting and electrical needs. He loves the challenge of helping them resolve often times distinctive and difficult electrical situations. Travis’s skills in lighting system design are somewhat unique in the industry and something Design Electric prides themselves in offering to its customers at no additional charge. He keeps up to date on the industries new and exciting technological advancements and strives to use these advancements as creative and innovative ways to meet the client’s needs. Both Travis and RJ made the decision to start Design Electric Of Madison with the belief that their specialized skills and complete understanding of the construction process from start to finish is something that the consumer desired and would make them stand above the rest.
Travis’ position in the company is design, estimating, and business management. Travis is a long time member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and Business Networking Incorporated (BNI). He has served on numerous committees, as an Event Chair, Board Member, and President of the Madison Chapter. His participation in the organization has offered him the opportunity to learn from other industry experts as well as support the remodeling community. Travis has taught numerous classes for the NARI’s Certified Remodeler Course, MATC Homeowner 101 Series, Home Inspectors informational classes. He has conducted many seminars at the NARI Home Remodeling Show and is often asked to speak at various trade functions. Travis has served as the electrical team leader role in NARI’s Aaron’s House and Home Makeover projects as well as Hammer With a Heart.
Travis, his wife Amy and twin boys Ethan & Joshua live in Fort Atkinson, WI. Travis enjoys playing live music and spending time with his family after business hours.

Richard (RJ) Logan – Vice President
RJ has worked with Travis from the start of his electrical career. Starting as a Material Handler in 1999, he worked his way through the Apprenticeship Program and became a Residential Wireman in 2003. RJ was clearly on the fast track to success in the field and was quickly promoted to Project Manager in 2006. His desire for great customer service, quality work, and values-based business practices drove him to obtain his Master Electrician License. Both he and Travis have the desire to bring their own personal touches into business ownership. The desire to interact with customers is what they felt would set them apart from their competition.
RJ can be found working on job sites, meeting with customers, preparing estimates and working on day-to-day business operations. Light is essential for any work space, and RJ enjoys turning that daily necessity into something that is pleasing to the eye and to transform our clients’ homes into a more comfortable, better lit, better functioning space. He has a special place in his heart for older, historic homes. He loves to be able to preserve the integrity and character of an older home while also providing all of the modern conveniences technology has brought to us. RJ is also our resident expert in knob-and-tube rewiring.
RJ feels that it is important to be a part of the communities and organizations in which we work. RJ is a past member of his community’s Jaycees group and is an active member of the Lion’s Club.
Training: MATC Apprentice Program, Lead-Safe Certified, IBEW-NECA joint apprenticeship training, and over 23 years hands-on experience.

Dustin Weiss – Electrician
Dustin is one of our most veteran electricians. Having started in the trade over 20 years ago; Dustin has worked with Travis and RJ for many years. Dustin has experience in all facets of residential wiring.
Whether working on a 150-year-old home or wiring a new house, we can count on Dustin to handle most any situation that comes his way. Dustin appreciates being associated with a company where customer satisfaction comes first. He expects quality work from his co-workers as well as other tradesman working on his projects. Dustin’s care for the customer’s property and his meticulous cleanup is a great indication of his respect of the homeowners personal space. Dustin’s knack for efficiency and knowledge makes him a great asset to our team.

Dustin believes that a well run project doesn’t happen by accident.

Terry Reed – Master Electrician
Terry is one of our most veteran electricians and has been working in the electrical trade for over 25 years; part of that time as owner/operator of Elite Electric. He received his Master Electrician’s license in 1993. Terry and his wife Monica live in Deforest and have two grown children and a grandchild. Terry enjoys traveling and spending time in the great outdoors!
Like many others, Terry entered the electrical field digging trenches and working literally from the ground up. His training and time spent as a business owner has given him a true appreciation and understanding of the importance of every aspect of the job both large and small. Terry’s commitment to the electrical trade, his “Whatever it takes to get the job done” attitude, and the personal approach he takes with every customer, shines through in all projects he is a part of. Because of Terry’s years of experience, meticulous attention to detail, and his passion for a challenge, we can always count on Terry when a complicated project arises.
Terry has kept his skills up to date by attending many seminars and certification classes. He has also spent time volunteering for projects such as the Green Built Home Make Over and has been a member of many trade organizations.
When asked what he most enjoys about working with Design Electric he said: “Design Electric shares the same and values and goals that I do. The entire staff works together as a team to ensure that the work is completed to the highest of standards and is done with professionalism and pride.”
Training: Terry has taken a variety of electrical related classes through MATC, IAEI and NECA He has also attended numerous seminars and has received many certifications.

Joe Crase – Electrician
Joe comes to Design Electric with over 14 years experience as an electrician. Joe is a Residential Journeyman and has received most of his training while working in the remodeling industry. Because of Joe’s years of experience and passion of historic homes we can count on him to be our “go to guy” to handle the intricacies of dealing with the many older homes we work on. Not a job loved by many, Joe also actually enjoys working with knob and tube removal. Joe is always up for a challenge!
The variety of the many different types of jobs and the fact that no two jobs are the same, has kept him passionate about the electrical field. He enjoys getting to learn about the history and stories of the different communities that Design Electric works in.
When asked what he enjoys most about working with Design Electric he said, “I enjoy the camaraderie of the whole staff. We work well together and compliment each others strengths and interest, which always makes a great team!”
When not working on a job site, Joe can be found working on his 100+ year old house that he is slowly restoring. He also enjoys cars, motorcycles and tinkering around in the garage. Joe is an active guy who definitely is not a fan of “idle hands.” We are happy to have him as as a member of our team!
